    Our Caregivers

Home Care Assistance Montreal – Top Caregivers

We pride ourselves in hiring only the highest calibre caregivers available. We receive many applications for employment, but through our rigorous interview process, we are able to select only those applicants who reflect the mission and philosophy of Home Care Assistance. Our caregivers must have significant training and experience before being considered for employment. Most of our caregivers are certified nurse’s aides and some are even retired nurses. We recruit, hire and fire so that you never have to. Of course, we don’t want to fire someone who we’ve invested so much time and money to recruit, but if they aren’t doing an excellent job in your home then we remove and replace them immediately.

Caregiver and Client – A Perfect Match!

Matching a client with the right caregiver is an art and we make sure to take the time to do it right. This is our job and we are continually hiring new caregivers so that we have them available when you need us. The old saying of “you get what you pay for” certainly rings true for in-home caregivers. We often have clients who phone and are shopping around for the lowest price, but bear in mind that a low-cost option will most likely not be the best quality option. We encourage all of our potential clients to do their homework because we are confident in our service and our caregivers.

    Careful Screening and Hiring

Once an in-depth interview is conducted and we have decided that a candidate would be a good fit for Home Care Assistance, we proceed with a thorough screening process. We put our potential caregivers through a full criminal background check, verify professional references, and perform a proprietary psychological screening test that helps us check for kindness, honesty and conscientiousness. Once they are hired and all background tests are complete, we bond and insure our caregivers, and manage all aspects of taxes, benefits, and workers compensation. We take all the risk – all you have to do is tell us how our caregivers can help you.

    Expert Ongoing Training

At Home Care Assistance we understand that our caregivers are our most valuable assets. This is why we invest continued time and effort into keeping their training and education up to date. We require our caregivers to attend the Home Care Assistance University where they are expertly trained in our proprietary Balanced Care Method, the Cognitive Therapeutics Method, as well as specialized training in Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke recovery, as well as post-hospitalization care.

In the words of her client’s family: “We feel privileged to have such a great experience, and to be able to trust someone to cake care of our mother. Some clients think it’s wrong to ask for the same thing more than once within a short space of time. But it’s how I learn what suits them best. I get to make a difference in a client’s day. And when I hear thank you, there’s a deep sense of satisfaction within me.” Thank you, Spora! We appreciate you!

Rezy has “taken charge” of all aspects of her client’s care; from menu planning to organizing doctor visits. She also leaves notes and reminders for things that the client needs to do when Rezy isn’t there; ensuring that care runs as smoothly as possible during her absence. When Rezy was recently approached by the family to do some live-in care for her client, she accepted without hesitation, even though it meant taking time away from her own family. She knew that her client would never accept a replacement caregiver and that it was absolutely necessary for her client to have live-in care during this period.

No matter the circumstances or challenges, Rezy can always be relied upon to be professional and to provide the best of care to her clients with a warm smile and genuine empathy...always with the respect and dignity that they deserve.

    Carissa Morris- Caregiver

    Carissa Morris Caregiver

We take great pleasure in announcing the recipient of our CAREGIVER OF THE MONTH award for April 2016. This month, the award goes to Carissa Morris for her dedication, professionalism and compassion.

Carissa is an integral part of the HCA team of caregivers providing care to many different clients per week, often at a moment’s notice. We often joke that she should have a part-time job as a taxi driver because we have her driving from one end of the city to the other. Originally from British Columbia, she moved to Montreal with her family during her late teen-aged years. Even though her family has since moved away from Montreal, Carissa and her young son now call Montreal home.

Carissa has a very positive energy. Her compassion and empathy are truly genuine and very evident upon meeting her. She is often specifically asked for by clients because they know that she will treat their family members as if they were a member of her own family. Carissa is very pro-active in her approach to care. If there is something that needs to be done to help her client, then she will do it...regardless if it is a scheduled task or not. Even though her shift may be ending, Carissa will never leave the client’s premises unless she is absolutely satisfied that the client is safe and comfortable and their needs have been met.

    Abigail Leonard- Caregiver

Abigail has been “the guiding force” in the lives of her younger siblings for several years since immigrating to Canada. She knows and understands that guiding someone must be done with encouragement, respect, positive suggestions and an ability to work well under pressure. These are the same traits that make her an excellent caregiver. She often puts the needs of those around her (especially her clients) before her own – always with the belief that “we are all accountable for our actions; whether those actions be good or bad”. Abigail holds herself to a very high standard of care, always giving 100% of her time and energy to every client she “has the privilege to care for”.

I hope you won’t be going away again soon.” A self-described “mother hen”; she takes care of those around as if they were part of her family – always worrying that they are alright. Apart from caregiving, she has two other great loves – her family (including 2 daughters) and her newborn grandson. We know, without a doubt, that Sandy will always be on time with her “clock in/out” making her schedule run almost effortlessly; always greatly appreciated by the HCA staff.
